Schloss Linderhof was also built by Ludwig II and it is the only castle he finished and spent much time there. In my opinion it is very nice and I liked it more than Schloss Hohenschwangau personally.
Linderhof is less a castle from the outside but rather a residence or a villa, with a nice park and a fountain in a lake which we couldn’t see because of the snow, but we knew was there. It is a very nice ‘smaller’ residence with the ground floor for the personnel and the first floor for himself. Read more!
Schloss Hohenschwangau was the castle of King Ludwig the 2nd’s parents and this is also where he grew up. This castle is less impressive than Neuschwanstein in my opinion although it also looks nice, but not really like a real castle, at least not a largely impressive one. We took a half hour guided tour in this castle and what is nice is, that it still has the antique furniture and some really valuable presents in the rooms.
An interesting thing is, that the king and the queen were not really living together. The queen lived in the first floor and the king in the second floor and you could really notice that also in the types of rooms the two had in their respective floor. Although this living situation, there is a hidden staircase in the walls, to get directly from one bedroom to the other. Read more!
Schloss Neuschwanstein was started to be built in 1869 by the last Bavarian King Ludwig the 2nd. He started to build it but then was found dead one day in the lake Starnberger See together with his doctor but no one really knows if he took his own life or was killed by someone, as he was spending much money of private investors for his castles.
He died after living in Schloss Neuschwanstein for only 172 days when the castle was still in the building process. After his passing the construction was stopped, and thus the castle is not finished, as some planned parts like a chapel were never built. Also from the inside the castle is not finished and only some of the rooms were furnished and used. Read more!
I recently visited Cologne with a friend and we did some touristy things in those days we spent there.
We started with going on a viewing platform on top of a tower, which was really nice, because we could overlook the whole city. It was a warm day and we had a very nice view! We could look over the Rhine, to the cathedral, and simply the whole city. I believe we had to pay 3€ to go on the platform and we stayed there for about an hour. After that we went to a restaurant called Mongo’s which is right underneath the building. Mongo’s was really good. Their specialty are exotic meat and fish types of which we tried many different ones. Read more!
My friend and I went to Mongo’s during our cologne trip. Mongo’s is a restaurant, where you can choose from different options like “all you can eat” or going two times to the buffet or ordering à la carte. I especially like the second option, because I like to taste all the different food at a buffet, but personally I’m not able to eat that much, so that the “all you can eat” option wouldn’t really suit me as I don’t like to eat like 5 plates of food even though I’m full just because I paid for it.
My great love for Hard Rock Café developed 2,5 years ago. I was in Barcelona with my friends, when I walked in a Hard Rock Café for the first time in my life, after I heard so much about it everywhere. We actually didn’t eat there, but went only in the shop. From that moment on, after seeing the atmosphere in there I knew, I had to eat there also.
It ‘happened’ one year later in Prague. Twice actually, a couple of weeks apart. The food was just simply amazing! We went there once for dinner and once for cocktails only . The food was so good! I adore it. I had a salad with chicken and a mocktail. The salad was refreshing and a light dish but it was still very much food (which it doesen’t seem like on the picture haha)
