I was gifted the book ‘Eat like a Gilmore’ by Kristi Carlson from two good friends of mine and of course it is an amazing book to me and I was really happy that I got it, simply because of my obsession with Gilmore Girls.
In the beginning of the book Kristi Carlson, the author, writes about her obsession with Gilmore Girls, a bit about herself and about how the idea came along and the development with the help of so many people.
Then there are the recipes. They are in categories:
- Coffee (Obviously!)
- Cocktails, mocktails and other drinks
- Pancakes, french toast, omelettes and breakfast
- Muffins, bread and scones
- Soup, sauces and butter
- Burger and sandwiches
- Pasta and rice
- Appetizers and side dishes
- Meat, fish and main courses
- Cookies, cakes and ice cream
When we go to those sections on each recipe there is a little icon in the top which shows if the recipe is a town special (like a founding fathers punch), or something that could be found at Emily’s house, Luke’s Diner or Sookies kitchen. Furthermore, there are two small sections called ‘Lorelais Asia’ and ‘Rory cooks’.
Kristi mentioned that they couldn’t find categories for Lorelai and Rory as they mostly, well always, order food. So those are things you can’t make at home really easily or rather they are nothing too special and specific for Gilmore Girls, that’s why they don’t have their own categories.
You can also tell from the style of the recipe who’s it is. Luke’s recipes are simple with simple and a small number of ingredients. Emily’s are more difficult recipes, which are a bit more complicated and Sookies as well.
There are so so so many recipes I want to try and I put little post-it notes in the whole book and I’m very excited to do so, because it makes me feel more like being in Stars Hollow, by cooking their meals. All the recipes in the book are of course either made or mentioned in the series, as it wouldn’t make too much sense otherwise, to give the book this name.
For any Gilmore Girls fans like I am, I can totally recommend this recipe book, as especially Luke’s recipes are really easy, ingredient wise. It is something different and not the usual recipe book, which I find very inspirational.
So, thank you Kristi Carlson, for this amazing idea!
I hope you had a nice day!
