Schloss Hohenschwangau, Schwangau

Schloss Hohenschwangau, Schwangau

Schloss Hohenschwangau was the castle of King Ludwig the 2nd’s parents and this is also where he grew up. This castle is less impressive than Neuschwanstein in my opinion although it also looks nice, but not really like a real castle, at least not a largely impressive one. We took a half hour guided tour in this castle and what is nice is, that it still has the antique furniture and some really valuable presents in the rooms.

An interesting thing is, that the king and the queen were not really living together. The queen lived in the first floor and the king in the second floor and you could really notice that also in the types of rooms the two had in their respective floor. Although this living situation, there is a hidden staircase in the walls, to get directly from one bedroom to the other. Read more!

Schloss Neuschwanstein was started to be built in 1869 by the last Bavarian King Ludwig the 2nd. He started to build it but then was found dead one day in the lake Starnberger See together with his doctor but no one really knows if he took his own life or was killed by someone, as he was spending much money of private investors for his castles.

He died after living in Schloss Neuschwanstein for only 172 days when the castle was still in the building process. After his passing the construction was stopped, and thus the castle is not finished, as some planned parts like a chapel were never built. Also from the inside the castle is not finished and only some of the rooms were furnished and used. Read more!

Cologne Visit

Cologne Visit

I recently visited Cologne with a friend and we did some touristy things in those days we spent there.

We started with going on a viewing platform on top of a tower, which was really nice, because we could overlook the whole city. It was a warm day and we had a very nice view! We could look over the Rhine, to the cathedral, and simply the whole city. I believe we had to pay 3€ to go on the platform and we stayed there for about an hour. After that we went to a restaurant called Mongo’s which is right underneath the building. Mongo’s was really good. Their specialty are exotic meat and fish types of which we tried many different ones. Read more!

Mongo’s – Cologne

Mongo’s – Cologne

My friend and I went to Mongo’s during our cologne trip. Mongo’s is a restaurant, where you can choose from different options like “all you can eat” or going two times to the buffet or ordering à la carte. I especially like the second option, because I like to taste all the different food at a buffet, but personally I’m not able to eat that much, so that the “all you can eat” option wouldn’t really suit me as I don’t like to eat like 5 plates of food even though I’m full just because I paid for it.

Hard Rock Café

Hard Rock Café

My great love for Hard Rock Café developed 2,5 years ago. I was in Barcelona with my friends, when I walked in a Hard Rock Café for the first time in my life, after I heard so much about it everywhere. We actually didn’t eat there, but went only in the shop. From that moment on, after seeing the atmosphere in there I knew, I had to eat there also.

It ‘happened’ one year later in Prague. Twice actually, a couple of weeks apart. The food was just simply amazing! We went there once for dinner and once for cocktails only . The food was so good! I adore it. I had a salad with chicken and a mocktail. The salad was refreshing and a light dish but it was still very much food (which it doesen’t seem like on the picture haha)

Chili’s – Morrisville, NC

Chili’s – Morrisville, NC

Throwback to the beginning of the year, when my boyfriend and me ate two amazing dinners at Chili’s in the United States.

We had Texas Cheese Fries as a starter and they were really tasty with the bacon. The ranch dressing was special and really good.
I must say I didn’t like tmy grilled chicken salad much though, the salad itself was good, but I’m quite fussy with chicken to be honest and this chicken just wasn’t my favourite.

The Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadillas however were really good, so my boyfriend and me swapped dishes. I had never eaten Quesadillas before and I was really amazed by the combination of the hot quesadilla and the cold sour cream. It really fits! Read more!

A new desire – Road trips

One of the things I never really considered, maybe because we have never done them, are road trips. I recently really got into them, though. I read a lot about road trips and started to love them! I really got into the feeling of being adventurous and letting just everything happen along the way. Whether near the home town or far away, I really want to start road tripping in the near future. Erfurt – Eat

Erfurt – Eat

Last month I visited a friend in Erfurt and most of the time I just stayed home, because she had to work. But one evening we went to this little restaurant called “Eat”. The waitress was really friendly and the restaurant had some specials, and we both chose the ‘Pulled Pork Sandwich’ with fries and a little salad. The food came really fast and It looked quite nice. It looked a bit like the food from Hard Rock Café, with the fries in an extra bucket and little sauces. It really reminded us of it. I didn’t like the salad a lot but the sandwich was really good. The bread was amazing, crunchy but still soft, the meat was also not too dry, it was really tasty. I noticed that the fries were different than usual, but I couldn’t figure out what it was, so when my friend tried them she was like: “oh they´re with cinnamon” and that was really special, it was something that I had never eaten before. Well, I hope that it was cinnamon, otherwise I’m making a fool of myself right now, but it really seemed like it.
