We went to Würzburg last weekend and also went to the residence in town. We didn’t make a residence tour but a tour of the wine cellar, which was very interesting.
At first, because we had time, we had a walk through the park which is part of the residence. Although the current weather it was very nice, in summer however the park is full with flowers and really relaxing! (I’ve been there years ago) Read more!
Last week I went, together with my friends, to the ITB, the world’s leading travel trade show, in Berlin. It was my second time on the ITB as a trade visitor. I already visited it last year with another friend. …
I stayed in the Kleopatra Ramira Hotel in Alanya with my boyfriend two years ago. We stayed there for 7 nights and when we arrived there at night there was still someone at the reception and a door- and luggage man waiting for us, which was nice.
We choose this hotel, because we planned this trip quite spontaneously, so everything else in our budget was already completely booked. It was the best option for us and also from the pictures and reviews it seemed very nice. Read more!
Madame Tussauds is a wax museum, which can be found in different cities, whose founder was Marie Tussaud. She opened her first museum in 1835 in London and to this date there are 23 other museums who are constantly being extended.
(the left one is Marie Tussaud herself)
I believe I’ve been three times at the Madame Tussauds in Berlin. The waiting time was ok, I would recommend to book the tickets online beforehand. You then get a priority entrance for the time frame you chose. You also get discounts when booking online especially when you want to visit other attractions like Sea Life or the Berlin Dungeon as well. Read more!
(Unfortunately we weren’t allowed to take pictures on the inside)
I’ve always wanted to go to one of the Dungeons and at my third visit of Berlin we finally also went to the Berlin Dungeon.
For those of you who don’t know the concept of the Berlin Dungeon, I’m going to explain it quickly. The Dungeon is a house where the interior is built with the scenery of the story being told. In this case it is the ancient story of Berlin. Especially the scary parts of it. You enter the story with a group and a narrator and get to know the different stories along the way in the different rooms, with different actors. Read more!
The hotel is very large and modern. It is located near a metro station, which makes it very comfortable and easy to travel through Berlin.
Our room was very nice, clean, modern, and it was absolutely quiet! We couldn’t hear anything from outside our room, neither from inside the hotel nor from the street.
The hotel is approximately 20 minutes away from the Brandenburger Tor by metro, and it is very easy to walk to the Kurfürstendamm which is the main street in Berlin for shopping and gastronomy. Read more!
The Nostress Cafe Restaurant is a bit outside the town square but still very good to be reached by foot. The restaurant itself is very elegant which I liked, the waiters were very friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was very clean.
I didn’t like the starter and main course very much to be honest, but I really enjoyed the dessert. The people who were there with me liked the food very much, though. So it might just be my taste.
I personally wouldn’t go there another time probably.
Oliva Verde Ristorante
The restaurant has a perfect location in front of the astronomic clock right on the town square. We had drinks there on one evening and then lunch the next day. Read more!
Schloss Linderhof was also built by Ludwig II and it is the only castle he finished and spent much time there. In my opinion it is very nice and I liked it more than Schloss Hohenschwangau personally.
Linderhof is less a castle from the outside but rather a residence or a villa, with a nice park and a fountain in a lake which we couldn’t see because of the snow, but we knew was there. It is a very nice ‘smaller’ residence with the ground floor for the personnel and the first floor for himself. Read more!
Schloss Hohenschwangau was the castle of King Ludwig the 2nd’s parents and this is also where he grew up. This castle is less impressive than Neuschwanstein in my opinion although it also looks nice, but not really like a real castle, at least not a largely impressive one. We took a half hour guided tour in this castle and what is nice is, that it still has the antique furniture and some really valuable presents in the rooms.
An interesting thing is, that the king and the queen were not really living together. The queen lived in the first floor and the king in the second floor and you could really notice that also in the types of rooms the two had in their respective floor. Although this living situation, there is a hidden staircase in the walls, to get directly from one bedroom to the other. Read more!
Schloss Neuschwanstein was started to be built in 1869 by the last Bavarian King Ludwig the 2nd. He started to build it but then was found dead one day in the lake Starnberger See together with his doctor but no one really knows if he took his own life or was killed by someone, as he was spending much money of private investors for his castles.
He died after living in Schloss Neuschwanstein for only 172 days when the castle was still in the building process. After his passing the construction was stopped, and thus the castle is not finished, as some planned parts like a chapel were never built. Also from the inside the castle is not finished and only some of the rooms were furnished and used. Read more!
I recently visited Cologne with a friend and we did some touristy things in those days we spent there.
We started with going on a viewing platform on top of a tower, which was really nice, because we could overlook the whole city. It was a warm day and we had a very nice view! We could look over the Rhine, to the cathedral, and simply the whole city. I believe we had to pay 3€ to go on the platform and we stayed there for about an hour. After that we went to a restaurant called Mongo’s which is right underneath the building. Mongo’s was really good. Their specialty are exotic meat and fish types of which we tried many different ones. Read more!
My friend and I went to Mongo’s during our cologne trip. Mongo’s is a restaurant, where you can choose from different options like “all you can eat” or going two times to the buffet or ordering à la carte. I especially like the second option, because I like to taste all the different food at a buffet, but personally I’m not able to eat that much, so that the “all you can eat” option wouldn’t really suit me as I don’t like to eat like 5 plates of food even though I’m full just because I paid for it.
My great love for Hard Rock Café developed 2,5 years ago. I was in Barcelona with my friends, when I walked in a Hard Rock Café for the first time in my life, after I heard so much about it everywhere. We actually didn’t eat there, but went only in the shop. From that moment on, after seeing the atmosphere in there I knew, I had to eat there also.
It ‘happened’ one year later in Prague. Twice actually, a couple of weeks apart. The food was just simply amazing! We went there once for dinner and once for cocktails only . The food was so good! I adore it. I had a salad with chicken and a mocktail. The salad was refreshing and a light dish but it was still very much food (which it doesen’t seem like on the picture haha)
Throwback to the beginning of the year, when my boyfriend and me ate two amazing dinners at Chili’s in the United States.
We had Texas Cheese Fries as a starter and they were really tasty with the bacon. The ranch dressing was special and really good.
I must say I didn’t like tmy grilled chicken salad much though, the salad itself was good, but I’m quite fussy with chicken to be honest and this chicken just wasn’t my favourite.
The Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadillas however were really good, so my boyfriend and me swapped dishes. I had never eaten Quesadillas before and I was really amazed by the combination of the hot quesadilla and the cold sour cream. It really fits! Read more!
